Imagine eliminating most of your data entry of voter registration forms. With
PenReg a prospective voter fills out a voter registration form on our
dot-enabled paper using a digital pen. It
writes in INK so you do obtain a wet-ink signature. When the pen is
docked the handwriting is converted to TEXT and sent to your local or statewide
voter registration database. You merely retrieve those applications and review
them for accuracy. You have both the image and the converted data. You make any
corrections necessary, and process the form as usual.
Most elections offices have a data entry person and then a second person that verifies the work of the first. With our system, you simply eliminate the need to do the intitial data entry.
In addition, our system can be used to collect registration forms in the field (for example, at the county fair), and the data are sent via a Bluetooth connection between pen and cell phone (or Blackberry) and can do an instant check to see if that person is already registered. Think of how many "re-registered" forms you can eliminate.
The system is also idea for Election Day Voter Registration (EDR) states where you collect a large quantity of forms and have to quickly process them. Now, at the close of elections, all the data and images of the forms will be posted to your statewide VR!!
