Pen meets Paper to create a rich voting experience.

PenVote

PenVote is a paper-based system of voting where ballots are printed on Anoto dot-enabled paper. The voter then fills out the ballot with a digital pen (produced by firms like Logitech, Maxell, and Nokia). After the ballot is completely filled out, the pen is docked in the docking cradle.

After the pen is docked a screen is used to display the results of the vote. We have shown a screen below that is a rough idea of what would be displayed.

The voter will be notified of any OVERVOTES (voting for more candidates than is allowed). In addition, the system can also identify any undervotes (failing to vote for any candidate or failing to vote for the maximum number of candidates). In addition, we also have the ability to display the actual ballot image. See below:

The system also allows the entry of a Write-In vote, and the system will read the handwriting and convert it to text. As you can see above, the voter wrote in "William Anthony" on his ballot, and the screen that shows the result you see "William Anthony" in text with an 86.7% confidence level.

After all the votes have been stored on the precinct storage computer (which can be any sort of device), we are able to take the totals and produce a fully tabulated result for all issues. Those results can be sent to a website for immediate release.
